A young child who drowned in a north suburban hotel swimming pool Thursday has been identified as a 4-year-old Rockford girl.

Crews from the Gurnee Fire Department pulled the girl from the pool of the Holiday Inn at 6161 Rte. 132 in Gurnee at 8:50 p.m. Aug. 20, Battalion Chief Jim Pellitteri said.

Advanced life support measures were used on the unresponsive girl, who was then taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Pellitteri said.

Four-year-old Rihanna Alegriah of Rockford was pronounced dead at the hospital at 9:35 p.m., according to Lake County Coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd.

An autopsy confirmed the girl drowned.
