A 45-year-old man was fatally struck by an SUV late Sunday in south suburban Richton Park.
Joe Crosby was struck by an SUV in the middle of the road on Governors Highway near Sauk Trail at 11:43 p.m., according to Richton Park police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Crosby, of the 22400 block of Butterfield Road in Richton Park, was taken to Franciscan St. James Health in Olympia Fields, where he was pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m. Monday, according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy found he died of multiple injuries from the crash and his death was ruled an accident.
Police said Crosby was wearing dark clothing and the 53-year-old woman driving the SUV did not see him in the intersection. There is no indication the woman was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
