As many as eight Chicago Public Schools students at a North Side military high school got sick from taking a substance that police suspect was LSD, and two students were arrested, authorities said Thursday.

Officers were called at 2:04 p.m. Wednesday to Rickover Naval Academy, 5900 N. Glenwood Ave., on the Senn High School campus in the Edgewater neighborhood, said Anthony Guglielmi, chief spokesman for the Chicago Police Department.

“A student felt ill after ingesting suspected LSD bought from a fellow student,” Guglielmi said.

The student was taken to a hospital for treatment, Guglielmi said. Seven other students also reported feeling ill after taking the substance but did not receive medical treatment, he said.

Two 15-year-old students were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Police are having the substance tested to confirm whether it was LSD, he said.
