A west suburban man was killed Sunday in a two-vehicle crash in west suburban Sugar Grove Township, police said.

A Chrysler Town and Country Van was traveling westbound on Hankes Road just west of Windsor Drive at 12:40 p.m. when it crossed the center line and hit a Mazda CX9, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the Chrysler, 93-year-old Peter Mickle from Aurora, was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the Mazda, a 49-year-old woman from Sugar Grove, was also taken to the hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation Sunday, and no citations were issued.

Hankes Road was closed after the crash, but reopened at 4 p.m., police said.
