A 60-year-old bicyclist died after a crash with a motorcycle Monday afternoon in west suburban Franklin Park.

The man was riding his bicycle westbound on Franklin Avenue near Wolf Road just before 2 p.m. Monday when he veered into traffic, said Franklin Park Chief of Police Michael Witz.

The bicyclist was struck by a motorcycle also heading westbound on Franklin, Witz said. The motorcyclist fell off his bike and the bicyclist landed on the ground.

The bicyclist, Wlodzimierz Woroniecki, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he died at 8:16 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 2800 block of North Melvina Avenue in Chicago.

An autopsy found Woroniecki died of delayed complications from multiple blunt force injuries from the crash, and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The motorcyclist, a 51-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, Witz said.

The Cook County sheriff’s traffic reconstruction team responded to the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
