Emergency crews pulled a body from a retention pond in west suburban Woodridge on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities were called to the pond in the 1900 block of 75th Street about 3 p.m. for reports of a body in the water, according to a statement from the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District.
Diving crews recovered the body of a male from the pond by 4:25 p.m., the fire department said. His age and identity were not immediately known.
Divers from the Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, LaGrange, Oak Brook, Riverside, Lemont, Lisle-Woodridge and Pleasantview fire departments assisted with the recovery, fire officials said.
Subsequent dive operations for evidence were called off after the body was examined by the DuPage County coroner’s office.
