Media, staff, players and some remaining fans were evacuated from Wrigley Field on Sunday evening as Chicago Police investigated a bomb threat an hour after the game between the Cubs and the San Francisco Giants.
People were told to leave about 5:30 p.m., an hour after the game ended. Police said they were checking out a “telephone threat.”
K-9 units searched the field until about 6:30 p.m.
The Cubs confirmed in a statement that it was a bomb threat, but that no evidence was found.
“After a thorough search by law enforcement, no evidence was found to suggest this threat was credible,” the statement said. “We take safety at Wrigley Field seriously and are working with law enforcement authorities to pursue the person who initiated this threat.”
The afternoon game had ended about 4:30 p.m., with the Cubs winning 2-0.
