A man was wounded in a shooting Friday night in the South Side Brainerd neighborhood.

The 22-year-old was walking on a sidewalk about 8:45 p.m. in the 9000 block of South Ada Street when he heard gunfire and realized he was shot, Chicago police said.

He was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, police said. His condition had stabilized.
