A substance that was initially reported as “suspicious” at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in the Loop has been found safe, authorities said.

The Chicago Fire Department responded to the USCIS Local Office at 101 W. Congress at 12:22 p.m. after a suspicious white powder was discovered in an envelope in the mail room, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The substance was deemed safe and no one was hospitalized, according to Fire Media.

The Fire Department turned the scene over to the FBI, which investigated and had cleared the area as of 3 p.m., according to an agency spokesman. He did not specify what was in the envelope.
