Now the Chicago kid is giving back . . . for the kids. Again.
Chance announced on Twitter that he’s going to throw the first Teens in the Park Festival, scheduled for June 24 on Northerly Island.
Chatham-native Chance won’t perform, but will curate the acts for the festival, sponsored by the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District, among others.
“The Chicago Park District is so excited to come together with other essential Chicago youth-centered organizations to create an event featuring local musical artists and experiential learning for teens,” Michelle Geddes, director of marketing for the Chicago Park District, said in a statement. “It’s this type of collaboration that shows teens the wide variety of exciting opportunities that exist in our great city.”

There’s no full lineup announced yet, but various reports have Donnie Trumpet and Dlow on the bill and Chicago rapper Phenom will host the show.
Chance has turned out as a big supporter of Chicago youth and the TIP show, free, but requiring pre-registration, follows on the heels of him turning up at Chicago schools bearing technology gifts and his Open Mic event that saw special guest Kanye West take the stage in May. So who knows who might pop up for this show?
And yes, adults also will be allowed to attend.
