Cicero man’s December death cold-related: autopsy

The death of a Cicero man last December was caused in part because of the cold, officials said Monday.

Humberto Aguilar-Hernandez, 56, was found Dec. 29, 2014, in the 1500 block of South 49th Court, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Aguilar-Hernandez, of the 1300 block of South 48th Court, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:35 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy has since determined that he died of hypothermia because of the cold, and listed a blood clot in the head as a secondary factor, officials said. His death was ruled an accident.

Aguilar-Hernandez is the 26th confirmed cold-related death in Cook County for the 2014-15 winter season, according to a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office. During the 2013-14 winter season, there were 32 cold deaths.
