State child protection authorities are investigating after a 1-month-old boy died at his home early Saturday in the West Town neighborhood.
Emergency crews responded about 4:30 a.m. to a call of a 1-month-old boy who wasn’t breathing at a home in the 100 block of North Ashland, police said. Efforts to perform CPR proved unsuccessful.
The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:55 a.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
The investigation is pending, and DCFS has not had prior contact with the family.
