With less than a week until Chicago’s mayoral election, a fake Rahm Emanuel decal has appeared on at least one of Chicago’s much-maligned parking meters.

The photo, which was circulated online Friday, appears to show a black decal illegally attached to the front a parking meter. The decal includes Emanuel’s campaign Twitter hash tag and asks people paying the meter to donate to the mayor’s campaign.

The decal reads: “Re-Elect Rahm Emanuel Text your lic. plate to #D4M Use pay buttons to indicate your donation amount. #rahm4chicago”

The Emanuel campaign said the placard is not associated the mayor’s campaign.

“This is an unfortunate and offensive scam,” said Emanuel campaign spokesman Steve Mayberry. “Anyone who sees this on a city parking meter should report its location to 311, along with the meter number.”
