Two people were killed in a crash Monday afternoon in southwest suburban Lockport.

The crash happened about 1:25 p.m. on the Ninth Street Bridge, located east of Route 53 and Renwick Road, according to Illinois State Police.

A Chevrolet Suburban SUV was traveling east when it crossed into the westbound lanes on the bridge and collided with a Ford F-150 pickup truck, state police said.

The driver of the SUV, 28-year-old Gabriel Moreno, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead at 2:18 p.m., according to state police and the Will County Coroner’s Office. The passenger, 60-year-old Gary L. Floyd of Joliet, was pronounced dead at 2:10 p.m. at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

The preliminary results of an autopsy Tuesday indicated that Moreno died of multiple injuries from the crash, the coroner’s office said. The final cause and manner of his death were pending police, autopsy and toxicological reports.

An external examination Tuesday indicated that Floyd died of multiple injuries from the crash, the coroner’s office said. His final cause of death was pending the conclusion of a police investigation.
