Ready to stop smoking? Turning Point Behavioral Health Center is offering to give you a helping hand.
A six-week session of Courage to Quit kicks off at 2 p.m. next Thursday (April 2) at Turning Point’s Headquarter, 8324 Skokie Blvd., Skokie. The classes, which are free, are funded by the Cook County Department of Health.
Here’s an interesting twist. As the course begins, participants will be hooked up to a carbon monoxide monitor, which will determine one’s lung capacity. Getting not-so-good results sounds like it could be the motivation needed to kick the habit, doesn’t it?
Over the six weeks, participants will get tips on how to handle cravings and avoid triggers that could cause them to light up again. They’ll also hear about how addiction and withdrawal impact our bodies.
Classes are first come, first served. To register, call (847) 933-0051, ext. 314; leave your name and a good time to receive a call back.
