A 17-year-old girl was wounded in a shooting Monday evening in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

The girl was standing with a group of people about 6 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Lafayette when a male fired shots, striking her in the buttocks, according to Chicago police.

She was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating.
