A southwest suburban man has won $750,000 on a lottery scratch-off ticket.

David Balma purchased the winning Ultimate Crossword ticket at a 7-Eleven store at 1644 E. Algonquin Rd. in Schaumburg, according to the Illinois Lottery.

He was in his Schaumburg office when he scratched the ticket. “I told my boss I needed to leave work early due to a lottery emergency,” he said when he presented the winning ticket at the Prize Center in Springfield.

The Lockport resident plans to share his winnings with family and invest for retirement, the lottery said.

The 7-Eleven will receive $7,500, or one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
