Department store chains Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s have launched same-day delivery in the Chicago area for online orders.
Online orders for items available at a Macy’s or Bloomingdale’s store can be hand-delivered for as little as $5. The chains announced plans for same-delivery in September.
“Our goal remains to help our customers shop whenever, wherever and however they prefer, and to use the entire inventory of the company to satisfy demand,” Terry J. Lundgren, Macy’s Inc. chairman and chief executive officer, said in a news release.
Online orders placed by 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday or by 11 a.m. Sunday can be delivered within a two-hour delivery window. Orders of $99 or more will be delivered for $5; otherwise, standard shipping charges apply, plus $5 for same-day delivery.
Deliveries will be handled by Deliv.com, a crowdsourced delivery provider, in cooperation with several mall operators such as General Growth Properties, Simon Property Group, and Westfield Corp.
Customers also can pickup online orders at full-line Macy’s stores (State Street, Water Tower Place, Oakbrook Center and Fox Valley Mall) and Bloomingdale’s stores (North Michigan Avenue and Medinah Home).
