A 23-year-old man was shot in the head and killed during a robbery Wednesday evening in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 6:05 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Pulaski, according to Chicago police.

Deontae Davenport was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition and pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the same neighborhood where he was shot.

Area North detectives are investigating.
