A man was shot Monday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 24-year-old was walking at 9:48 p.m. on the sidewalk in the 4000 block of West Washington when a male walked up to him and fired shots, Chicago Police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his torso, police said.
