Man, 25, shot in Chatham

A man was wounded by gunfire Tuesday evening in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

At 7:45 p.m., the 25-year-old was walking in an alley when someone came up and fired multiple shots at him in the 7800 block of South Cottage Grove, according to Chicago police.

The man was treated on the scene and then taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition has stabilized, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating.
