A man was wounded in a shooting Thursday afternoon on the Near West Side.

The 25-year-old was sitting in a vehicle about 2:15 p.m. in the 300 block of South Washtenaw when he heard shots and realized he’d been hit, according to Chicago police.

He took himself to Rush University Medical Center for treatment, police said. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
