Man, 32, shot in East Chatham

A 32-year-old man was wounded in a shooting Monday evening in the East Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

The man was standing in the street about 5:30 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Drexel when someone fired shots, striking him in his leg, according to Chicago police.

He took himself to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
