A 37-year-old man was shot Tuesday night in the Galewood neighborhood on the West Side.

The man was walking about 9:05 p.m. in the 6100 block of West North when another male approached and fired a single shot that struck him in the abdomen, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Area North detectives were investigating the shooting.

The suspect’s son witnessed the shooting of at least five relatives, according to Joliet police reports obtained through a public records request. The reports also indicate the boy’s mother was more deeply involved in the case than first thought.
