A man was wounded in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.

The 40-year-old was with someone he knew when the other person left, came back with a handgun and shot him in the leg just after 4 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Marshfield, according to preliminary information from Chicago police.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating.
