A man was shot to death Tuesday night in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said.

Johnny Shanklin, 50, was standing on a corner in the 3800 block of West Roosevelt when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, striking him in the back, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead about 9:20 p.m., police said.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed the death and identified Shanklin Wednesday morning.
