A man suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound Wednesday night in the Calumet Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

The 27-year-old accidentally shot himself in the leg while handling a gun at 10:51 p.m. in the 9200 block of South Stony Island, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, police said.
