Man charged with stealing cellphones at Metro PCS store, CTA Red Line station

A man has been charged with stealing cellphones in three separate incidents this week, including at a store and a CTA train station.

Teron Ceazer, 24, is accused of robbing a 27-year-old woman of her phone at 1:36 a.m. on the platform at the Lake Red Line station at 188 N. State, according to Chicago Police and Cook County prosecutors.

Ceazer was arrested about half an hour later outside the station, court documents show. Officers found Ceazer in possession of five more stolen cell phones, prosecutors said.

Two of the phones were stolen about 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday from a Metro PCS at 6317 S. King Drive. In that case, Ceazer walked into the store to buy headphones and a phone, and as the employee was activating the phone, Ceazer asked for change, prosecutors said. When the employee turned around, Ceazer allegedly grabbed the phones and ran.

He’s also accused of taking a phone out of a person’s hands about 11 p.m. Thursday in the first block of South Dearborn, just minutes before the Red Line robbery, court documents show.

Ceazer, who lives in the South Side Park Manor neighborhood, was charged with three felony counts of robbery and one count of theft, court documents show.

Judge John F. Lyke Jr. set Ceazer’s bail at $150,000 at a hearing Saturday.
