A Spring Grove man was pronounced dead after a semi truck and a car crashed near northwest suburban Woodstock on Monday morning.

At 10:49 a.m. McHenry County sheriff’s deputies and Woodstock Fire Protection District paramedics responded to a crash on Route 14 and Hartland Road in unincorporated Woodstock, according to the sheriff’s office.

A 2013 semi pulling a flatbed trailer was heading northwest on Route 14, and a 2012 red Chevrolet Cruze southbound on Hartland when the car stopped at a stop sign, the drove into the intersection and into the path of the semi, a statement from police said.

A 44-year-old from Wahpeton, North Dakota, was driving the semi, and police said he is cooperating with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash.

The names of the victim was not released pending notification of the families.

The McHenry County coroner’s office, sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit, and Illinois State Police Truck Enforcement Unit continue to investigate.
