Man dies after being beaten with ‘object’ in Logan Square

Five people — including three newborn babies — were stabbed at an overnight day care center inside a New York City home early Friday, and a woman who had slashed her wrist and was found in the basement was taken into custody, police said. The victims were listed in critical but stable condition.

A man died Wednesday after he was struck multiple times during an argument the night before in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

William Rosenbaum, 58, was “hit by an object multiple times” during an argument with someone about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of North Western, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The object may have been a bat, but investigators have received conflicting accounts of what happened, a police source said.

Rosenbaum was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said. He was homeless.

An autopsy Thursday found he died of multiple blunt force injuries from the assault and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
