Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead in his west suburban Geneva home Thursday evening.
Officers were called for a well-being check at the home in the 0-100 block of Crissey Avenue at 6:19 p.m., Geneva police said in a statement. The call was made by someone who was not inside the home.
When officers arrived, they found 53-year-old Eduardo Gutierrez dead inside his home, according to police. His wife, who was home at the time, was provided medical attention as “standard protocol” and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Officers obtained a search warrant after finding the body, and searched the home at 2:30 a.m. Friday, according to police.
The results of an autopsy Friday were inconclusive, with results pending further investigation and toxicological tests, according to the Kane County coroner’s office.
Geneva police and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force are conduction a death investigation.
No one is in police custody in connection with the death, but authorities are “confident there is no danger to the public,” police said.
