A man was seriously injured after jumping off an overpass onto the Kennedy Expressway on the Near West Side on Tuesday morning.

The 37-year-old man jumped from the Van Buren overpass onto the Kennedy at 6:33 a.m., Chicago Police said. He was found lying on the pavement on the expressway and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

The incident is being investigated as a possible suicide attempt, according to police.

All lanes of the Kennedy and Dan Ryan were reopened by 7:30 a.m., Illinois State Police said.
