A man showed up at a firehouse Friday evening after he was shot during an attempted robbery in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.
The 51-year-old was the victim of an attempted robbery at 5:05 p.m. in the 6800 block of South Lafayette, according to Chicago Police. The suspect, a 16- or 17-year-old boy, shot the man in the abdomen and hit him in the back of the head with a handgun.
The suspect ran off and the man tried to drive himself to a hospital, police said.
He made it to a Chicago Fire Department station at 2240 W. 69th in West Englewood and was taken by ambulance to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to police. He was listed in serious condition.
