A south suburban man died after he was shot Saturday evening in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

Just after 6 p.m., someone in the 7300 block of South Champlain heard gunfire and came out to find 23-year-old Michael A. Brown with a gunshot wound to the chest inside a vehicle, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He had been talking to another male, who pulled out a gun and shot him, police said.

Brown was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 6:58 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 3200 block of Holden Circle in Matteson.

Police said the man was a documented gang member and the shooting might be gang-related.
