An 18-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday in Austin on the West Side, police said.

Xavier Netisingha was in the 1700 block of North Linder when two males approached on foot and fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was struck in the head about 7:30 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
