A man was shot in the back and critically wounded Tuesday evening in the South Side Calumet Heights neighborhood.

The 27-year-old was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the back about 9:10 p.m. in the 9200 block of South Blackstone, according to Chicago Police.

He was in critical condition at Trinity Hospital, police said.

No one was in custody as Area South detectives investigated.
