Man shot in Back of the Yards

A man was shot Wednesday night in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The 39-year-old man was walking at 11:02 p.m. in the 800 block of West 53rd Street when a drove minivan drove by and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

He was struck in the back and taken to the University of Chicago Hospital where he was in serious condition, police said.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
