A man was shot and seriously wounded Thursday morning in the South Shore neighborhood.

The 37-year-old victim was in the 6700 block of South Stony Island Avenue at 8:49 a.m. when someone walked up and fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot multiple times in the face, neck and abdomen, and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
