A man was critically wounded in a shooting Tuesday night in the Jefferson Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

At 8:47 p.m., the 28-year-old was sitting in the back of a vehicle in the 5300 block of West Leland when he heard gunshots, according to Chicago police. He felt pain and realized he was shot multiple times.

The 28-year-old was taken in critical condition to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police said.

Area North detectives were investigating.
