A man was wounded in a drive-by shooting late Thursday in the North Side Uptown neighborhood.

The 27-year-old victim was standing on the sidewalk at 11:55 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Wilson when someone shot him from a passing vehicle, according to Chicago Police.

He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Shermain Sargent, 41, is accused of beating Timothy Ash, 74, on Jan. 7 in the 6400 block of South King Drive. Ash died Jan. 12 of injuries suffered from the assault, the medical examiner reported.
