A man was seriously wounded in a shooting Saturday morning in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired at 11:02 a.m. in the 5800 block of South Indiana found the 36-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to his face, according to Chicago Police.

The man had been sitting in a vehicle when a van pulled up and someone inside shot him, police said. He then ran inside a home, where someone called for medical assistance.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.
