A man was wounded in a South Shore neighborhood shooting Sunday night on the South Side.

Officers responding about 10:15 p.m. to a call of shots fired in the 2400 block of East 78th Street found the 24-year-old man in a building vestibule with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to Chicago Police.

Witnesses told investigators a white Chevrolet Cavalier drove by and someone inside opened fire, police said. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
