A man was wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.

The 19-year-old was walking about 1:20 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Chappel when a silver car stopped near him, according to Chicago Police. The front-seat passenger, a man in his 20s, got out, pulled out a gun and shot the 19-year-old in the abdomen.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
