A man was seriously wounded in a shooting Saturday morning in the South Chicago neighborhood on the South Side.

The 26-year-old was standing outside at 8:34 a.m. in the 8300 block of South Colfax when a male emerged from a gangway nearby and started shooting, according to Chicago Police. The shooter then ran away eastbound.

The man suffered two gunshot wounds to the lower back and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member and the shooting is thought to be gang-related.
