A man was shot while driving early Thursday in the Burnside neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The 24-year-old was driving southbound when he heard shots and felt pain about 2 a.m. in the 9200 block of South University, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot in the left hand and took himself to MetroSouth Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating.
