Driver intentionally ran over man with pickup in West Chatham, police say

A man driving a pickup truck intentionally hit and killed a man Monday afternoon in West Chatham on the South Side, police said.

Carlos Posadas, 22, was performing work on a Honda Accord when he was struck by the Ford pickup about 3 p.m. in the 200 block of West 87th Street, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’ office.

The driver of the Ford and Posadas knew each other and the driver apparently hit him with the truck intentionally, authorities said.

Posadas was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

An autopsy Tuesday found Posadas died of multiple injuries from the crash and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

The pickup drove off after striking him, but the driver was later taken into custody, police said. Charges against him were pending as of Tuesday afternoon.
