A man was struck and killed by a van Tuesday afternoon in Uptown.

Jesus Valdez, 56, ran into oncoming traffic in the 4600 block of North Broadway at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday and was struck by a cargo van, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Valdez, of the 800 block of West Montrose, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 5:16 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Wednesday found he died of multiple injuries and his death was ruled an accident.

The driver of the van was not cited, police said.
