A man who allegedly tried to convince a 17-year-old girl to get into his car earlier this month in southwest suburban Tinley Park turned himself into police Tuesday after he saw a photo of his car on the news.

The man pulled up to the girl Oct. 2 in a Subway parking lot in the 17200 block of Oak Park Avenue, asking her if she needed a ride, according to Tinley Park police.

After he realized the girl was trying to get his license plate information, the man drove away north on Oak Park, police said.

Police later determined there was not enough evidence to charge the man, and that he posed no threat to the community.
