A 24-year-old man was shot early Sunday in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

He told investigators he was a passenger in a vehicle traveling northbound in the 3200 block of North Laramie about 4:10 a.m. when a black SUV began following, according to Chicago Police. The man heard several shots and realized he’d been struck in the back.

The vehicle continued to Community First Medical Center, police said. The man was transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.
