SHARE Many Chicago attractions close early because of weather conditions

Many popular attractions in and around downtown Chicago have closed or will close early Sunday because of the severe weather.

The Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and the Museum of Science and Industry will all close at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Any pre-ordered tickets for today at Shedd will be honored for a future date.

  • The Art Institute says they are open until 5 p.m., regular time
  • The Brookfield Zoo is closed.
  • The Chicago Park District fieldhouses are closed at Eckhart Park, Humboldt Park, Smith Park and Wicker Park. The rest of the fieldhouses are open according to their regular hours. All outdoor ice rinks are also closed, as well as the Chicago Lakefront Trail.
  • Lincoln Park Zoo will close at 2 p.m. today.
  • Navy Pier, all attractions like the ferris wheel, are closed. The Children’s Museum will close at 1 p.m.

And if you have ticket to a performance today, check and see if it’s cancelled or not here:

  • Goodman Theatre’s 2 p.m. matinee will go on as scheduled, but the 7:30 p.m. will be cancelled. Ticketholders will be rescheduled for a future performance.
  • The 7 p.m. performance of “Disney on Ice Presents Frozen” at the United Center was postponed.
  • “Million Dollar Quartet” at the Apollo Theatre cancelled both of its shows today.
  • Court Theatre’s 7:30 p.m. production of “Waiting for Godot” has been cancelled.
  • Matinees at Northlight (“White Guy on the Bus”) and Lookingglass Alice are cancelled. Neither had evening shows scheduled.
  • Park West is postponing Laurie Berkner solo at 3 p.m. A future date will be announced soon.
  • Tonight’s sold-out Steve Earle concert with special guest Dawn Landes, the first of four at City Winery, will go on as planned.
  • The 2 p.m. “West Side Story” at Drury Lane Oak Brook has been cancelled.
  • Performances of “La Cage aux Folles” at The Marriot Theatre in Lincolnshire have been cancelled. Ticketholders should call the box office this week at 847-634-0200 to reschedule.
  • Tonight’s performance of “Panic on Cloud 9″ at Second City has been cancelled. Ticketholders will receive an email from our box office and can call 312-337-3992 for more information.
  • “Laughter on the 23rd Floor” was cancelled today at First Folio Theatre in Oak Brook.
